  • LANDSLIP AT NORTHSIDE ROAD, MORIAH ON 18/7/08, AT 9:54.  A LANDSLIP WHICH RESULTED IN THE FOOTPATH LEADING TO A NUMBER OF RESIDENCE OFF NORTHSIDE ROAD AT MORIAH, TOBAGO.  UPON INVESTIGATION THE FOOTPATH WAS SEEN BLOCKED WITH DEBRIS AND BRC.  CERT TECHNICIANS WHO THE SEEN ADVISED THAT THE BRC BE SECURED IN SUCH A WAY TO ALLOW EASY ACCESS TO RESIDENCE AND THE DEBRIS BE REMOVED BY A URP GANG THE FOLLOWING DAY.

  • Earthquake east of Trinidad- On Thursday morning 3rd July at 2:35am local time, an earthquake occurred east of Trinidad. The preliminary magnitude for the event is 5.6 and the preliminary location is 10.58°N 60.51°W. More Details.

  • FIRE AT UPPER APARTMENT ON GARDEN SIDE STREET, SCARBOROUGH- AT 6:35AM ON THE 14TH OF JUNE 2008, A REPORT WAS MAKE TO CERT MORIAH OF A FIRE AT AN UPPER APARTMENT OPPOSITE T&TEC SPORTS CLUB, SCARBOROUGH.  THE FAMILY OF THE APARTMENT WERE NOT ABLE TO SAVE ANYTHING. NEMA TOBAGO OFFICIALS VISITED SCENE CONDUCTED CHECKS AND INTERVIEWS DONE. DETAILS WERE TRANSFERRED TO SOCIAL SERVICES.


May 2008

Just after 12:00am Wednesday Morning 28th, May 2008, fire was seen coming from the Francis Auto Supply store, at Milford Road, Scarborough, Tobago.  The Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service was summoned, however upon arriving at the scene, the store was already completely engulf in flames. The adjacent side of the next door Guesthouse, had to be soaked, thereby preventing the flames from being transferred to the guesthouse.

Even upon visiting the seen this morning- 28/5/08 at about 9:00am smoke was still coming from the store.

March 20th 2008- Rough Seas and Swells:
Rough Seas began severely affecting the Coastal Lines of Tobago early Thursday 20th March 2008.  Observers have seen fifteen to twenty (15 - 20) foot waves rumbled ashore and claiming Land and property with excessive damage to boats and pirogues tin the Mount Irvine, Black Rock and Plymouth coasts on Friday 21st 2008.

FLOODING AT BLACK ROCK- PARTIAL FLOODING TO THE RESIDENTIAL DWELLING HOUSE. THIS IS BEING CAUSED BY THE NEARBY RIVER WHICH OVERFLOWED ITS BANKS, DUE TO THE BLOCKAGE OF THE RIVER MOUTH BY A LARGE SAND DOME CREATED BY ROUGH SEAS.

TWO BOATS DAMAGED AT CASTARA- DAMAGE OCCURRED OVER NIGHT DUE TO THE ROUGH SEA AND LARGE SWELLS.  CERT TECHNICIANS ARRIVED ON SCENE CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE. THE BOATS REQUIRE REPAIRS BEFORE THEY ARE AGAIN SEA WORTHY.

BACK YARD OF DWELLING HOUSE WAS FLOODED AT BLACK ROCK DUE TO ROUGH SEAS- THE LAGOON AND DRAIN NEXT TO THIS PROPERTY OVERFLOWED ONTO THE PROPERTY.  CERT TEAM FROM MORIAH, ARRIVED ON SCENE AND CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE AND TOOK PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT.

UPDATE OF Rough Seas and Swells- 20th March 2008

PIROGUE DESTROYED at BLACK ROCK DUE TO ROUGH SEAS- AT 7:15AM CERT MORIAH RECEIVED A  REPORT THAT DUE TO ROUGH SEAS IN BLACK ROCK A 19FT RED, BLUE AND WHITE PIROGUE WAS DESTROYED.  CERT TECHNICIANS ARRIVED ON SCENE CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE AND TOOK PICTURES.

February 2008




  • FIRE DESTROYS THOMAS HOME AT BRUCE TRACE, GLEN ROAD, TOBAGO-  ON CARNIVAL MONDAY FEBRUARY 4TH, 2008.  According to police reports, the fire started around 2 p.m., but by the time Fire Officials arrived on the scene, the wooden structure was destroyed.  Neighbours, who had formed a bucket brigade on seeing the flames, could not assist in calming the flames.
