Chain Saw Operations- Training
September
5th and 6th 2007 was designated for the Training of
Shelter Managers in the operation of Chain Saws conducted at Fairfield
Complex, Bacolet. This training was facilitated by FT Farfan and hosted by
NEMA Tobago.
The overall content of the training was:
· Safety Precautions
· Working Techniques
· Clothing and equipment
· Transportation of the Saw
· Fueling
· Procedures before and starting the engine
· Operation procedures
· Re-active forces- kick back, etc.
· Holding and controlling the saw
· Methods of saw usage:
o Felling
o Cutting
o Liming
· Maintenance and Repairs
The objective for this training was to equip the shelter managers on the island with adequate knowledge relating to the proper operation and management of the equipment issued under their care within the Disaster Management Kits.
