Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Refresher Program

NEMA Tobago in collaboration with the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago undertook a Re-training Exercise with the aim of reinforcing and providing up-to-date Emergency Medical Practices to already Trained and Certified Technicians.  This initiative is to ensure that there are competent Emergency Medical Technicians available to response to every medical emergency incident on the island of Tobago.

The three (3) Training Exercise was conducted at the Caroline Building #2 Conference Room uptown, Scarborough. Tobago. during the period 30th April until 2nd May 2008, where seventeen (17) Tobago CERT Technicians and five (5) Emergency Health Service Technicians are presently being retrained and would late be recertified from Creighton University.

Instructors to the training program were: Karla Reid, Curt Pierre and Avery Jacob all of whom are from the Emergency Training Institute of Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago has been certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and is recognized by the National Transportation and Safety Board as a State that has met the requirements as a testing site located in San Fernando  and it is imperative that each Emergency Technician make full  use of this opportunity to be tested and maintain their certification at two (2) years interval.
