NEMA Tobago Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Seminar
NEMA Tobago in collaboration with Consultant Tricia Melville provided CERT Technicians, Office Staff with IT Knowledge with hands-on training in the use of program ARC View which is a data integration and analysis software at NEMA Tobago EOC office at Bacolet, Tobago.
This one (1) week Seminar was held from March 6th 2008 until March 13th 2008. An average of 25 personnel were trained.
General Overview of Arc view GIS:
ArcView is a full-featured geographic information system (GIS) software for visualizing, managing, creating, and analyzing geographic data. Using ArcView, you can understand the geographic context of your data, allowing you to see relationships and identify patterns in new ways. ArcView helps tens of thousands of organizations make better decisions and solve problems faster.

Data Use and Integration- Create and manage geographic data, tabular data, and metadata.
Ready-to-Use Datasets
GIS Deployment- View, navigate, and print published ArcGIS maps using ArcReader (.pmf files).
Map Viewing and Navigation- Perform basic map navigation such as zooming and panning and switching between map and page layout view.
Data Query and Exploration- Use ArcReader tools such as Find and Identify to explore a variety of geographic data including raster and vector data.
Map Printing- Print published map documents and published globe documents including all layer symbology and cartographic map elements on any supported printer.
Configurable and Customizable- Using the ArcGIS Publisher wizard, you can control the appearance of the ArcReader application when it opens a map.
