NEMA Tobago prepares for the passage of Hurricane Dean- August 2007 As hurricane Dean moves west, NEMA Tobago held meetings with various stake holders in the disaster management sector on the island The first meeting was held on Tuesday 14th August 2007 with business entities on the island; supermarket owners, wholesalers, hardware store owners and the Port Authority. This meeting assessed the quantity of food and building stock on the island and made arrangements with the Port Authority for priority to be given to these operators for increasing of stock on the island. A meeting of the Disaster Management Committee and the shelter management teams followed. The state of readiness of all our partners was conducted and there was commitment by all to assist agencies in their areas of need to ensure that the island was in the best possible shape before any impact.
